Who We Are

Sistahs BookClubbing was organized by Tannie Lewis Bradley in July 2000, specifically to read and discuss African American literature.  Today, SBC continues to provide a warm, safe environment for women to gather and engage in thought provoking discussions about books; absorb other points of view with the hope of developing strategies that will enhance and enrich our individual experiences, and create and exult in the spirit and power of being women of African American descent.  Our willingness to cooperate and collaborate, has nurtured the love of our cultural heritage and our people, as well as the desire to support, encourage and uplift one another.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to continue increasing the awareness and appreciation of the richness of African American literature; build a sisterhood of women to support and nurture a positive, healthy approach to life; through self-discovery, and utilizing the endless possibilities that reside in each of us through insightful dialogue, as we relate to some of the issues and themes of the books we read and discuss.
